Aims and Scope

Solutions in Social and Management Sciences (SSMS) is an international, open access, double-blind peer-reviewed journal published biannually by Sociopolicy Research Solutions (Pvt.) Ltd. SSMS provides a rigorous and inclusive platform for the advancement of knowledge across the full breadth of the social and management sciences, with a particular commitment to research that bridges disciplinary boundaries and speaks to real-world policy and institutional challenges.

The journal was established to address a recognised gap in the academic publishing landscape: the need for a high-quality, fully open access venue that treats social science and management research as interconnected rather than separate domains, and that actively encourages contributions from researchers across all career stages, institutional affiliations, and geographic regions.

Aims

SSMS aims to:

Publish original, high-quality research that makes a substantive contribution to theory, empirical knowledge, or applied practice in the social and management sciences. Foster interdisciplinary dialogue by welcoming research that draws on multiple disciplinary traditions and methodological approaches. Provide a globally accessible publishing platform with no financial barriers to authors or readers, in keeping with the principles of open access scholarship. Serve as a resource for academics, researchers, policy makers, practitioners, and institutional decision makers who seek evidence-based insight into social, economic, political, and organisational questions. Uphold the highest standards of research integrity, peer review rigour, and publication ethics in accordance with COPE guidelines.

Scope

SSMS publishes original research articles, systematic reviews, meta-analyses, theoretical and conceptual papers across the following interconnected domains:

Methodological Scope

SSMS is methodologically inclusive. The journal welcomes submissions based on quantitative methods, qualitative methods, mixed methods, and interdisciplinary or multi-method approaches. Comparative studies, longitudinal analyses, experimental and quasi-experimental designs, ethnographic and interpretive research, systematic reviews, and policy evaluations are all within scope. The journal does not privilege any single methodological tradition, provided the chosen approach is appropriate to the research question and rigorously executed.

Geographic Scope

SSMS operates with a global scope and no geographic restrictions on authorship, subject matter, or research context. The journal actively encourages submissions from researchers based in developing and emerging economies, and from regions that are underrepresented in mainstream academic publishing. At least 25% international authorship will be maintained across published issues.

Language of Publication

All manuscripts must be submitted and will be published in English. Authors whose first language is not English are encouraged to have their manuscript reviewed for language clarity before submission. The journal also offers language editing services. For more information, contact SSMS@sp-research.org.

Publication Frequency

SSMS publishes two issues per year on a biannual schedule: January–June, July–December. Each issue contains a minimum of five peer-reviewed articles. Articles may also be published online ahead of issue assignment following acceptance and production.

What SSMS Does Not Publish

To assist authors in assessing fit before submission, SSMS does not publish purely descriptive research without analytical contribution; opinion pieces, editorials, or commentary without empirical or theoretical grounding; research that has been previously published or is under simultaneous consideration elsewhere; studies that do not meet ethical research standards as defined in the journal's Publication Ethics policy; or manuscripts outside the thematic scope defined above.

Target Readership

SSMS is directed at academic researchers, postgraduate students, faculty members, policy analysts, institutional leaders, development practitioners, and public sector professionals with an interest in evidence-based understanding of social, political, economic, and organisational phenomena.

Open Access Statement

All content published in SSMS is immediately and permanently available free of charge to any reader anywhere in the world. The journal operates under a full gold open access model with no embargo period. All articles are published under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International Licence (CC BY 4.0), which permits unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided the original work is properly cited.
